Mountainside Community Church-One Person At A Time

We met her at the movie theatre when she bumped into one of our launch team members in front of her.  We have had several chats since then and she and her husband are interested in joining us.

We met her at Walmart when she stumbled behind one of our launch team members, she has MS.  A conversation started that led to a friendship.  Phone numbers exchanged and the desire to do life together was acknowledged.

We met them through a post on Craig’s List when one of our launch team members needed some baby items.  A conversations started and a friendship began.

We met them because our car nearly slid off of our steep driveway and he just happened to be driving by.  He stopped to help and we visit their home often now.

We met him because he watches over our house when we are gone, even though we never asked.  He is literally a good neighbor.

We met her on a rainy night at a local park where we were hosting a cook out.  She stood at a distance observing and we literally played the game of 20 questions to get to know each other.  She said, ‘this is a good thing you are doing here…”

They are our neighbors, co workers, random strangers, and friends. From that mix of intentional and ‘accidental’ moments we are connecting to the folks who are sensing God’s compelling to build Mountainside Community in Boone.  We consider every conversation a gift, and every person who says they are ‘in’ for this adventure a miracle.

This is how a Church is planted.  By living and breathing the Gospel in all the everyday moments, by watching for the one ‘stumbling’ behind you, or pulling over to help you, or stopping long enough to ask your name.  It’s just people learning to see each other, learning to love each other, and learning how to embrace the mission of God through the conception of this brand new Church.

This month we are meeting weekly in our homes to worship and pray together, and we will be showing up together at several Fall Festivals in Boone to hand our Frisbee’s to the ‘more’ that we know God is seeking.  Pray for us.
