What a day!  A snowy weekend, complete with an ice storm served as the backdrop for the day we were set to launch Mountainside Community Church. The drama started at 6:00am with our Launch team group test questioning whether or not we should go forward with Launch.  The decision was made to go forward if we could make it out of our driveways, and amazing news- nearly everyone made it!  When we arrived with the trailer loaded with all the gear, we found two families were already there and prayer walking all around Regal.  I won’t soon forget that sight.  Amazing!  We were so thankful for  a crew of volunteers from The Point Church in Raleigh that braved the storm and came to assist us.  We were able to get everything set up and were ready to greet by 9:30….and miraculously by 9:45 Boonies started to arrive in spite of the storm. Over 110 of them, crazy!  We knew every person walking through the door had to overcome some pretty intense weather to get there- it spoke volumes to their hunger and resolve.  We worshipped the Lord as Shannon, his Dad, and a member of our launch team carried in the cross. We prayed prayers together and heard the Word of God, loved on the children, took Communion, and sang again….and just like that- Mountainside Community Church was born.
Her whole story was a miracle.  The people that God gathered in a long string of ‘circumstances’ can only be explained as divine, really divine.  I do not know the story that lies ahead of us- I only know that watching this Church emerge has increased my faith.  I anticipate His work among us and I am certain that He loves the folks in Boone.  He has remembered them and is reaching toward the many folks here who need to know He is close. It is an honor to be on this journey.
